§ 8-1-1000. Chapter 2, Definitions, amended.

SECTION 202 Definitions is amended by adding the following definition:

SUSTAINABILITY. Consideration of present development and construction impacts on the community, the economy, and the environment without compromising the needs of the future.

SECTION 4.301.1 Irrigation Controllers is amended to read as follows:

301.1 Irrigation Controllers. Automatic irrigation system controllers for landscaping provided and installed at the time of final inspection shall comply with the following:

Controllers shall be weather- or soil moisture-based irrigation controllers that automatically adjust irrigation in response to changes in plants' needs as weather conditions change.

Weather-based controllers without integral rain sensors or communication systems that account for local rainfall shall have a separate wired or wireless rain sensor which connects of communicates with the controller(s). Soil moisture-based controllers are not required to have rain sensor input.
